This move made the operator a pioneer in the Spanish residential market by introducing a service powered by XGS-PON technology in 2021.

XGS-PON Network Deployment

DIGI began introducing XGS-PON technology into its fibre deployments just three years after launching its own fibre-optic network rollouts in Madrid. Since then, the operator has expanded its SMART network across Spain, making it available in 50 provinces today.

Currently, the fibre-optic network deployment utilizing XGS-PON technology accounts for 95% of the network coverage the company has rolled out in Spain.

XGS-PON Technology at 2 and 10 Gbps

Driven by its goal of offering the best connectivity experience accessible to everyone, DIGI makes XGS-PON technology available to its customers through its PRO-DIGI "Fibra SMART" plan (up to 10 Gbps) for €25 per month, and its 2 Gbps ‘Fibra SMART’ plan for €20 per month. Both speeds are available in areas covered by the SMART fibre network.

Additionally, DIGI customers can enjoy the latest XGS-PON technology combined with the operator's Wi-Fi 7 router, which offers up to 30% better in-home wireless coverage, resulting in faster internet access speeds and lower latency.
