DIGI Spain (DIGI), the telecommunications operator of the DIGI Communications Group in Spain, has been recognized as having ‘Spain’s Fastest fibre Network’ in the first half of 2026 by the prestigious Speedtest Awards™ by Ookla®, thus marking more than five years as the operator with the fastest fibre network nationwide. Furthermore, the operator has registered a 67% increase in fibre speed since 2021, the first year it received this award.
Specifically, DIGI, the third largest residential broadband operator in Spain, has recorded an average download speed of 354.71 Mbps, surpassing the market average of 269.85 Mbps.
Speedtest®, the Ookla® platform that tests the performance and quality of internet connections, has recorded more than 13 million measurements taken by users throughout Spain during the first half of 2026 and has recognized DIGI with the award for “Spain’s Fastest fibre Network” since 2021. In this way, DIGI reaffirms its commitment to offering quality services supported by advanced technology at the best price.
According to the Speedtest® results, DIGI achieved a score of 75.41 out of a maximum of 100 on the Speed Score™.

Speed Score™ is a metric that measures the performance of fixed broadband networks based on upload and download speeds and latency reported by users.
These analyses also recognize DIGI as the operator with the lowest average latency. This allows its customers to enjoy a better browsing experience when streaming videos, playing online games, or participating in video conferences.

The results of all these tests are published in the Ookla® report for Spain.
According to Marius Varzaru, CEO of DIGI Spain: “This recognition is very significant for DIGI as it represents important support for DIGI's commitment to continuous improvement in the quality of its services, and it highlights the investment made in deploying a high-performance fibre network over the last 8 years. Currently, more than 14.2 million homes have access to DIGI fibre, 95% of them with XGS-PON technology designed to offer maximum speed and low latency, and with more than 2.75 million active fibre connections, we are now the third largest broadband operator in Spain.”
Stephen Bye, President and CEO of Ookla, stated: “DIGI’s achievement of winning the Speedtest Award for Spain’s fastest fibre network since 2021 underscores its commitment to excellence and places it at the forefront of fixed network providers in the country. We commend their dedication to providing industry-leading service and congratulate them on this remarkable milestone.”
