DIGI participates in the DIGI Group's first coordinated blood donation campaign, which has attracted more than 600 donors

DIGI, the telecommunications operator of the DIGI Communications Group in Spain, participated this Wednesday, along with the other DIGI Group countries where it operates, such as Romania, Italy, and Portugal, in the first coordinated blood donation campaign, which has attracted more than 600 donors. Their contributions could save up to 1,800 lives.

Specifically, in Spain, the company has been carrying out these blood donation initiatives with the Red Cross for six years now. For this first joint campaign among the countries of the DIGI Group, under the slogan "Donating blood saves lives", a full week has been devoted to donations, so that employees in the Madrid offices, as well as those in the larger branches—A Coruña, Albacete, Barcelona, Málaga, and Valladolid—can join in this act of solidarity. To date, more than 100 donors have participated, and more than 150 are expected by the end of the week.

Collaboration between countries

Solidarity knows no borders, so in Romania more than 400 donors in total have participated, from 26 DIGI Romania delegations, in the blood transfusion centers in the cities of Alba Iulia, Alexandria, Bacău, Baia Mare, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brașov, Brăila, Buzău, Câmpulung, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Focșani, Galați, Iași, Oradea, Piatra Neamt, Pitești, Ploiești, Reșița, Sibiu, Slatina, Suceava, Târgu Jiu,Târgu Mureș; and in the mobile blood collection units installed in the company's offices in Bucharest and Timișoara. In Portugal, more than 30 people have donated, and in Italy, a total of 25 have joined this act of solidarity.

One donation can save up to three lives

A single 450 ml unit of donated blood can save up to three lives because, upon arrival at the transfusion center, that unit is divided into three components: red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, which are transfused to each patient according to their needs.

According to data published by the Red Cross in Spain, 1 in 10 people admitted to a hospital need blood, and only 5% of potential donors donate blood each year.

That is why, at DIGI, we believe in the importance of promoting a high-impact act of solidarity among our employees, such as blood donation, and we extend our gratitude to all those who have participated and collaborated in this campaign, a reflection of the cohesion of the DIGI community and its shared purpose: to help save lives. Commitment to society

DIGI joins its employees in their act of solidarity and reinforces its support for other causes that have a real impact on people's lives. DIGI is supporting the Red Cross in its School Success Promotion campaign with a financial contribution to ensure that vulnerable school-aged children have access to a healthy and balanced snack to help them get through their school day.

In this way, DIGI, in addition to promoting this donation campaign among its employees, also reaffirms its commitment to building a fairer and more inclusive society.
