DIGI, the telecommunications operator of the DIGI Communications Group in Spain, has obtained ISO 45001 certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH&S), an international standard that certifies the implementation of a proactive risk management framework aimed at preventing workplace injuries and illnesses, with the goal of continuously improving occupational health and safety.
DIGI’s HR Director, Virginia Guerrero, received the certification from Pedro Escudero, Managing Partner for Business Development at Adok, at an event also attended by Javier Cassini, Director of Prevycontrol, the company that carried out the internal audit leading to the certification.
In the words of Virginia Guerrero, who thanked Adok and Prevycontrol for their support throughout the certification process: “It is a source of pride for DIGI to obtain this certification, which is ultimately recognition of our company’s work and commitment to improving the health and safety of our employees by providing a safer working environment for our colleagues. Special mention should also be made of the work carried out by our Joint Prevention Service team, which made it possible for us to achieve this certification.”
Pedro Escudero added that “by obtaining this certification, DIGI demonstrates the importance it places on ensuring its employees operate in safe environments, positioning it as an organisation that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of its workforce.”
ISO 45001 certification
ISO 45001 is the international standard that provides a framework for managing risks and opportunities in occupational health and safety management systems, with the main objective of preventing work-related injuries and ill health, and ensuring safe and healthy workplaces. Implementing an occupational health and safety management system in line with this standard helps improve performance in this area, while also supporting compliance with occupational risk prevention requirements.
DIGI, now the second-largest operator by number of employees, carries out all its core business activities in-house and currently has more than 10,000 employees in Spain.
