DIGI, the telecommunications operator of the DIGI Communications Group in Spain, has improved the speed of its fibre network by more than 43% since 2021, the year it first received the “Fastest Fibre Network in Spain” award, according to data from the prestigious Speedtest® platform by Ookla®, a global leader in connectivity intelligence.
Speedtest®, Ookla®’s speed testing platform, has recorded more than 13 million user-initiated tests across Spain during the second half of 2025 and has recognised DIGI as having the “Fastest Fibre Network in Spain” since 2021. This recognition underscores the operator’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality services built on advanced technology, at competitive prices.
DIGI has now been recognised for five years by the Speedtest Awards™ as the operator with the fastest fibre network nationwide, which has earned it special recognition at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 currently taking place in Barcelona. It has also once again recorded the lowest latency in Spain.
The award presented by Ookla was received by DIGI Spain’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dragos Chivu: “Receiving this recognition for the fifth consecutive year is a great source of satisfaction for us, and we believe it reflects the investment the company has made in deploying fibre optic networks over the past eight years, which now exceeds €1.8 billion. Today, more than 13.7 million households have access to DIGI fibre, 93% of which is based on XGSPON technology; and behind this network is a dedicated team working every day to ensure our customers enjoy the highest quality services.”
Stephen Bye, President and CEO of Ookla, a division of Ziff Davis, said: “Maintaining the Speedtest Awards distinction continuously since 2021 reinforces DIGI’s leadership in the Spanish telecommunications market. These awards are based on objective data and independent testing, which makes this achievement particularly significant. This recognition highlights DIGI’s commitment to providing its customers with the fastest and most efficient connectivity in the industry.”
Leader in speed and low latency
According to Speedtest® results, DIGI achieved a score of 76.42 out of a maximum of 100 in the Speed Score™ in the second half of 2025.
In addition, DIGI’s average download speed stands at 335.51 Mbps, more than 32% higher than the Spanish market average of 253.80 Mbps.

Speed Score™ is a metric that measures the performance of fixed broadband networks, based on upload and download speeds and latency reported by users.
These analyses also recognise DIGI as the operator with the lowest average latency compared to others. This enables customers to enjoy a better browsing experience when streaming videos, playing online games or making video calls.

The results of all these tests are published in Ookla®’s report for Spain.
