DIGI, the telecommunications operator of the DIGI Communications Group in Spain, generated more than €783 million in revenue in 2024, representing a 22% increase compared to the previous year.
It also recorded gross profit (EBITDA) of more than €175 million, up 32% compared to 2023.
DIGI returned to profitability in Spain in 2024, after not posting a net profit in 2022 and 2023, due to increased investment in network rollout.
In addition, the operator invested €349 million in 2024, mainly allocated to its plan to roll out next-generation ultrafast fibre optic networks, as well as to launch its plan to become a mobile operator with its own network, including the acquisition of 60 MHz of radio spectrum on the secondary market.
Commercial performance
At the end of the year, once again, the number of porting transactions achieved by DIGI stands out, with more than 1.3 million customers choosing to switch their mobile and landlines to DIGI in 2024.
As a result, DIGI added more than 1,959,000 customers during the year. These figures bring the company’s total user base to more than 8,440,000 at the end of 2024, representing a 30% increase compared to the previous year.
Specifically, more than 5.86 million customers used its mobile service, more than 1.95 million subscribed to its fibre service and more than 626,000 used its landline service at the end of the year, following the addition of more than 1,200,000, 578,000 and 181,000 customers respectively in 2024.
In the words of Marius Varzaru, CEO of DIGI Spain: “2024 has been DIGI’s best year in terms of growth in Spain, while also returning to profitability, confirming not only that our value proposition, offering customers high-quality services at competitive prices, is well received, but also that DIGI is a solid and profitable company.”
DIGI’s financial results in Spain have just been published in the quarterly report issued by DIGI Communications NV, considered one of the fastest-growing operators in Europe, with operations in Romania, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium, offering fixed and mobile telephony, internet, cable and satellite TV services, as well as electricity services.
Value proposition
Throughout 2024, DIGI maintained its commitment to offering customers the highest quality at competitive prices, while continuing to expand its portfolio with the services most in demand.
As a result, in 2024 it introduced 5G services, enabling customers with compatible devices to enjoy maximum speed and quality in their mobile communications, as well as technologies such as VoLTE and VoWiFi, which also enhance call quality for customers.
In terms of fibre services, and thanks to the investment DIGI has made in its own fibre network over the past six years, the company launched a new 300 Mbps SMART Fibre plan for €10 per month and also enhanced its 500 Mbps SMART Fibre plan by increasing speeds to 600 Mbps at no additional cost.
Its own network, deployed using state-of-the-art technology, also enabled the operator to receive the “Fastest Fibre Network in Spain” award at the prestigious Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ for 2024, marking four consecutive years of recognition.
The operator also increased the data allowances included in all its contract and prepaid mobile plans, improved pricing on some of them, and merged its “DIGI Ilimitado” and “DIGI Combo” plans, so that the updated plans include unlimited national calls and international minutes to more than 50 destinations at the same price.
To complete its best possible offering, in December the operator launched DIGI TV, its television service with more than 100 channels covering films, series, sports, documentaries, entertainment and more for €7 per month, allowing customers to enjoy a combined TV and fibre package for €17 per month, strengthening its commitment to offering the services its customers demand.
Commitment to employment
DIGI, with a strong focus on in-house employment, develops career plans for its employees and, as part of its commitment to quality employment, supports its workforce in developing and progressing within the company.
By the end of 2024, DIGI had more than 8,750 professionals directly employed, including infrastructure staff responsible for deploying its own fibre network and its in-house call centre.
